Visit the town of Dakar, capital of Senegal, located about 45 kms from the “Petite Côte” (the Little Coast). Dakar is a very cosmopolitan town, both lively and nonchalant. The town-centre can easily be explored on foot. Visit the different districts, markets and monuments.

Flower-sellers and craft-shops offering a range of basketwork, pottery, trinkets, batik, wood, copper and instruments can be found around the market-place. After visiting the town you will board a “chaloupe” or rowing-boat that will take you to Gorée Island. Guided visit of the slave-house, the narrow streets and old houses, where charm and emotion co-exist. Lunch will be served in a restaurant either in the town or on the island, according to the time available

Visit the colourful local market (crafts, fabrics, locally produced goods, basketware).

Visit the main traditional fishing port. You will find here an impressive number of hand-made pirogues or dug-out canoes. Women work all day to process the fish caught.

You will reach the bush via Mbour and Joal. A track then leads to Sine Saloum. Discover the traditional villages of the sérères and peulhs and visit a school. You will follow a  thann track  to Ndagane, where a motorised pirogue will take you on a tour of the Bolongs of Sine.

Here you will visit the mangrove swamps where many different bird species live. Lunch will be served on the shore of the lagoon after your tour

Joal, the town where the President and poet Léopld Sédar Senghor was born, is situated 70 kms from the villa.
The town centre is a wide thoroughfare bordered by colonial houses that date from the beginning of the 19th century. The President was born in one of these.

All around Joal are vast, drained areas criss-crossed by networks of shell dikes, some 8 metres wide, that offer protection from the sea. To reach Fadiouth, you cross the sound that separates it from Joal via a wooden, 800m-long bridge.

During the visit, you may meet the oyster-gathers who literally “pick” the oysters found clustered on the roots of the mangroves. The cemetery in which both Christian and Muslim graves are found is completely covered in shells

You will visit the Niayes region, the fertile heart of market gardening, with its unique attraction: the salty Lake Retba.

Discover the innumerable mounds of salt and the impressive number of salt-collectors who extract the salt deposits encrusted at the bottom of the lake with the aid of small,
